In late November 2006, a solitary Canada Goose, unable
to fly, spent its last days near the model airplane
field at Sherwood Island. On more than one occasion, other
geese would fly over and call to him, but he never
responded. Then, on Thanksgiving day, an adult Bald
Eagle arrived, found the goose, and had him for dinner. |

The day after Thanksgiving, the eagle was gone. Turkey
Vultures came in the clean up the leavings. |
